The relevance of this research is associated with the following prerequisites: strict environmental requirements for the level of harmful emissions from car engines; low efficiency of the catalytic converter at low reactor temperatures during the initial warming-up period after engine start; significant share (up to 30%) of "cold emissions" in the total mass of harmful substances emitted during the daily operation of a car in the urban cycle; complex influence of physico-chemical processes in the catalytic converter on the efficiency of harmful substance neutralization. However, existing scientific studies do not reveal results determining the influence of design and operational factors of harmful emission neutralization systems on their efficiency during the warming-up modes of car engines. Scientific novelty of the obtained results. The impact of combining car engine operating modes on fuel consumption and harmful emissions in the driving cycle, considering the warming-up processes of the engine and catalytic converter, has been established. The polynomial dependencies of fuel consumption, concentrations of harmful substances, and mechanical losses considering the thermal mode of the gasoline engine have been refined. The regularities of the influence of engine operating mode parameters on the temperature of the cooling liquid and catalytic converter, the efficiency of neutralization, fuel consumption, and emissions of harmful substances with exhaust gases during the car's conditional movement in the driving cycle, considering the design and operational parameters of the exhaust gas neutralization system, have been obtained.
