The dissertation states an important role of energy metabolism disturbances in epileptogenesis. Suppression of the energy metabolism during decompensation of the disease is accompanied by development of oxidant stress. The leading role of the energy metabolism suppression in the development of epileptic encephalopathy is demonstrated. The efficiency and expidency of the therapy aimed at the energy metabolism activation for the pathogenetical additional treatment of epilepsy is grounded
